MadiSUN Solar Walking Tours

In partnership with RENEW Wisconsin, the City of Madison, and Dane County, local resident Michael Vickerman will lead an in-person walking tour showcasing residential solar electric installations in the recently developed Pinney neighborhood in Madison’s east side. This area features a dense cluster of solar systems in a compact area. The houses and the solar systems here are less than 10 years old.

Getting to The Tour

We’ll meet at the back (north) entrance to Pinney Library. The building is on the northwest corner of Cottage Grove Rd. and Dempsey St. There is ample automobile and bicycle parking capacity behind the library. Bus riders can take either the C1 or the C2 bus to Pinney Library. Both routes stop at the corner of Cottage Grove and Dempsey.

Accessibility Information

The walking tour will essentially be a loop covering four city blocks, starting at the back of Pinney Library. We will walk on sidewalks the entire way, and the terrain is level throughout.

Rain Date

Should rain force the cancellation of the walking tour on August 6th, it will be rescheduled for August 13th, beginning at 4:30 PM.  Notice of any cancellation and rescheduling will be sent out via email before noon on the 6th.

More Information

The tour is set to end at 5:30. For those interested in continuing the conversation, the Muskellounge and Sporting Club is an attractive option. The Musky, as it’s known to locals, is a family-friendly establishment in the Lake Edge shopping center, located on the corner of Buckeye Rd. and Monona Dr, just a few blocks south of Pinney Library. If you’re hungry, you can order food from Hank’s Burgers and Fish Fry next door and bring it into the Musky. Outdoor seating is available.
